You can listen to clips of music online at. Even if you don't want to buy the music from there, you can hear part of the song and see the song lengths before you buy them. This has helped me when buying new CDs or looking for that perfect song.

Shira has also put together music clips of songs for belly dancers. She has the music sorted by category, which will make your shopping easier.

Some music/book stores have headphones for you to listen to clips on the CD before you buy it as well. It’s harder to find good music because belly dance CDs are in the “world music” section, which is usually in a mess. The selection is usually pretty small too.

Since you are online I suggest you try Radio Bastet. This is a pod cast of vintage belly dance music and it can be downloaded. In addition, you might consider getting the Bellydance Superstar CDs or the Desert Roses CDs. These CDs have a mix of songs from several groups and singers and a variety of musical styles. This way you can listen to lots of styles and decide who you like best. I like Natasha Atlas, Galactic Caravan, and Oojami. Good luck and keep dancing
